Fico Mattalona

Mattalona fig is a traditional variety that is part of the ancient fig culture in Sardinia, cultivated on the island since the Copper Age. Like many other local cultivars, it has differentiated over time thanks to the selection made by rural communities. Appreciated for the abundance of fruits and the long production season, from July to October, strawberries were consumedco or dried, representing a fundamental food resource in the traditional Sardinian diet.
